"I'm all korked up!" Pt. 2

Celebrating the completion of my first month of Make Something 365!!!! Wow! One month down... 11 more to go. Now on to today's creation.

"I'm all korked up!" Part 2... Today I created a korker bow, using zebra print, red and plain white 3/8" ribbon. I attached the korker bow to a black headband. I think this cute for tween girls who may have out grown the Korker bows. Something about a headband that makes them feel a lil older but still young and cute.

I'm all korked up!

The theme for this week is "I'm all korked up!" Korker bows are cute for little girls, cheerleaders, and sweet & sassy teens. I plan on using my oven more this week than ever. Today's korker bow is attached to a barrette, using white, red, and a red diamond design ribbon. All ribbon is 3/8".

I'm always blue!

So let me apologize in advance. I took at least 23 pictures of this bow and could not get my focus right. The ribbon is baby blue with white dots.  Now you can see why "I'm always blue!" I went to Michael's today and they had bows similar to this and I started to buy it because they were so cute a petite... just the right size for the Munchkin. Then it dawned on me as I approached the register... I can make it!!! So her it is!

Felt a Flower?

As I write my bow blog everyday... I started thinking about what types of bows women my age would wear and if they would wear them at all. The trend lately is headbands and wraps with cute flowers. I was inspired by a piece from the Craft Snob. I'm calling it Felt a Flower? I used pink felt to create a flower and attached it to a thin white headband.

Luv  Ya... Hug Me...Be Mine ForEver! I love conversation candy and how cute is the conversation ribbon? I attached this 2 1/2" bow to a french clippie. The ribbon is 7/8" wide and is 100% polyester. I used 3/8" red ribbon for the know center.

Stack It!

I know... I know... I said I would lay off the polka dots. But I wanted to make something the munchkin could wear with a shirt I bought from Old Navy. So here it is.My first stacked bow. The stacking concept is really cute and there are lots of different ways to do it. As the months go on I hope to create lots of snazzy stacked bows.
Bow: Brown polyester ribbon
Knot center & spikes: Brown with pink polka dot grosgrain

Bow: 1" ribbon spans 3"
Spikes: 7/8"

Enough with the POLKA DOTS!!!

Ok- so I didn't realize until today, how much polka dot ribbon I have. Enough with the POLKA DOTS!!!  This is the last polka dot bow for at least a week...

I have been working on toddler size bows for my munchkin. this 1" pink with brown polka dot ribbon spans 2". I attached it to a barrette.

I was originally working a spikey bow for today but that isn't taking me a little more time. I am also working with the tutorial I ought and a bow making tool. I hope to master those techniques throughout the month of February.

Orange you glad?

Orange you glad I haven't stopped? I was thinking that the month is almost over and i am so proud that I am still participating in this amazing journey of creativity. I created a 3 inch bow using polyester 7/8" orange with white polka dot ribbon. I used white 3/8" grosgrain for the center knot tie. Today I experimented with creating a bow attached to an elastic band for a ponytail.

I am working on my first spike bow for tomorrow. wish me luck!!!

2 Hearts are Better than One!

I love to see sculpture bows and believe me they have to be precise. I didn't originally plan to make two... but
2 Hearts are Better than One!
The first one was blah and the second was not so blah!

I will work on this heart sculpture again but with some patterned ribbon and a different clippie. I used 3/8" grosgrain in red and white. I lined a single prong alligator clip (SN: going to look for them in double prong and smaller) with the white ribbon (SN2: going to buy some lined clips). I realized with today's bow that I don't have to do everything. Lesson of the week...
Work smart not hard!!!

Put some BLING on it!

It was difficult to get a picture of my bow today. The bling was just too much for the camera. Put some BLING on it! was inspired by a tutorial I found on Fabric Bows and More: Thin Ribbon Bows by A Girl and a Glue Gun. I had difficulty following the simple directions but here is my version of her Thin Ribbon Bows. I included a side shot of the munchkin. You can finally see what I mean about having to create very small bows for her short hair. Till tomorrow...

do the polka!

Ok- so I love polka dots. This pink, red and white polka dot bow is going to be perfect for the munchkin as Valentine's Day approaches. I used a barrette for the first time and it was quite simple. But I was most excited about using my new bow making tool that helps to crease the center of the bow. The ribbon is 7/8" grosgrain and I used solid red for the center. The bow spans 1 1/2" wide.

iT tAKES tWO!

Using instructions from The Ribbon Fairy I created my first pair of bows, iT tAKES tWO! My goal has been to create bows small enough for the munchkin to wear, that actually look cute in her short hair. I think I hit the jack pot today. I used a 7/8" white ribbon with black polka dots for the bow and the center is black 1/8" ribbon. Both are 100% polyester ribbon.

The bows are attached to mini snap clips. They are 2" wide.

Green with Envy

Today I used 7/8" grosgrain in dark and light green. This is a two-fold bow technique. I used a dark green polka dot  3/8" ribbon for the center. My Green with Envy bow spans 3". I attached it to a french clip.

Polka Who!

This is an amazing journey. I am learning to make time for working for myself... for who?..
Polka Who?
Polka you, that's who! Let's get to today's 365 project.

The ribbon is royal blue with pink polka dots. The ribbon is 1" and the bow spans 3". I made a ribbon wrap center using 7/8" pink grosgrain. I attached the bow to a french clip. Now I'm off to find the munchkin something to wear with it so she can show it off at daycare!!!

Give a little heart!

One aspect of bow making that I really like is sculpture bows. Today I created a heart sculpture in two different sizes. As Valentine's Day approaches I am going to work on giving the sculpture the Star effect. I used red and white 3/8" inch grosgrain ribbon. The first heart is 2" on a red lined alligator clip. The second heart is 1' wide and is attached to a small snap clip.

Stripe Me

I love this color because it has the colors of my alma mater... Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University aka FAMU. This bow was made using the N technique from my new manual. I was doing ok until i got to the clip attachment. I do like the bow~ will try it next time with a larger ribbon.

The 7/8" polyester mix ribbon is striped with orange, green, white, and yellow.
It is attached to a french clip.

Purple Posh

We all love the color purple! Today I made my first attempt at learning the technique of bow making. This bow was made using a tri-fold technique and I added a bit of pizazz by cutting spike edges. The purple ribbon is 100% polyester and 1 1/2" wide. I made a slip knot for the center and attached it to a french clip.

Absolutely Beau-TULLE-ful!

I know you're wondering... "Where is Baby Alive?" Well due to doll labor laws I have to give her a night off. But aren't these teddy bears Absolutely Beau-TULLE-ful? Thanks to my friends over at  Do Me A Favor by J & S, I was able to create my first Teddy Tutu's.

Today's bow for my Make Something 365 project is the sweet bow tie bow that I made for the Teddy Bears. I used a hot pink tulle and adorned them (with my mother's help) with a small rhinestone. I made 17 no sew tutu skirts, using a mixture of Magenta, Hot Pink, Pink, and White tulle. This was such a pleasure to create and I look forward to seeing how Do Me A Favor by J & S incorporates the teddy bears into their centerpiece creations.

The Mocha Spot

Although the main color for little girls is pink. I love brown. The Mocha spot is made with grosgrain ribbon in 1 1/2" solid brown and 1" beige with brown spots. I lined an alligator clip with beige 3/8" grosgrain. This style bow is called the bow tie bow, which is the same style as my Red Tie Affair bow. This bow is 2 1/2" which is perfect for my munchkin... Now I need to find her some brown so she can wear it to school. My post is little late today because i have been working on tut's for baby shower table setting. The tutu's are going on little cute brown bears. I'll be sure to post pictures of the completed table settings.

My manual has arrived!!!!
So glad to know that most bows are made with fabric glue and not the hot glue gun.
My fingers are going to love me.!

Little Bow Peep

Little clippies are a cute way to keep hair out of the face or in place. Little Bow Peep was made with 3/8" pink & white striped grosgrain ribbon. The loop around the bow is a solid pink. These bows will work best for my lil munchkin because its not too big. I attached the ribbon onto an alligator clip that is lined with the striped ribbon. I need to find smaller alligator clips so that these can be used in a infant's hair. When they are babies they won't bother the clippie but as they get older, parents must remember that small objects can be choking hazards.
