Pretty in Pink

Day 59

Pretty in Pink~ I love this bow and if i had an outfit to match, I'd be wearing it to work tomorrow. The bow spans about 3" and is made with fuchsia 1 1/2" ribbon. the center knot is made with 7/8" light pink with dark pink polka dot ribbon. It is attached to an alligator clip. I think this would look great on headband... we'll see.

Better Late than Never...

So I fell asleep yesterday before I finished my bow blog entry. YIKES!!!! I was doing so well but rather than give up on my goal... here it is Better Late Than Never....
Day 58

I absolutely love this teal colored ribbon. It is 7/8" grosgrain and the center knot is made with a teal and black striped 3/8" ribbon. The bow is attached to a double prong alligator clip.

I appreciate those of you who inquired about my missing entry!!!

bRAID bAND

I have wanted to try to create a braided headband for a while now. But came across a tutorial to braid the ribbon on a band and... I think I'm in love. Throughout my bow blog so far, I have wanted to wear my experiments and creations but felt they might be too young for me. But now I have something that makes since for me- since my hair is over  2 feet long. I can wear a bRAID bAND to hold my hair back. This is a MEGA excited moment!!!!

Star Pins

Fuschia and teal are two of my favorite colors. The first Star Pin is made with 1" wide teal ribbon and the center knot is made with 7/8" star patterned ribbon. The second Star Pin is made with 1 1/2" wide fuschia ribbon.

Best Friends!

With a title like "Best Friends" there was no way I could only make one bow. I attached these bows to barrettes that I have. The center is a flat black grosgrain ribbon. The bow spans 1 1/2". The best friends ribbon  base is light pink. Once the munchkin has enough hair for two ponytails, I think these will be great additions.

Clip-Me!

Since my munchkin doesn't have much hair. I have started creating lil clippies. The bows are great but until I can master making them smaller- clippies will have to do. These are cute lil hair accessories that do don't overwhelm her tiny head and short hair. So Clip-Me, I made some more. I decided to use this glitter stitch ribbon that I have in silver. The ribbon is lined on an alligator clip. The flatback buttons are something I picked up at one of the craft stores. I would have made matching clippies but I guess I already have. One thing about the clippies is that you have to make sure that the resin/flatback is secure. It can be a choking hazard because of the small parts.

Black Strawberry

I LOVE THIS BOW!!!!!!
Ok- so I created Black strawberry in remembrance of my breakfast this morning. I purchased some beautiful strawberries from the grocery store and I was excited to have them with my morning meal.... Then I tasted the first one and was quite disappointed. Although it looked beautiful, it might as well have been... a Black Strawberry. The bow is attached to a lined solid white alligator clip. I found this resin in an assortment that I purchased and abracadabra... here it is.

It's another great day to be ALIVE!!!

Froggy's

To start on a positive note... I created a matching Froggy's clippie set. The single prong alligator clip is lined with green ribbon with white polka dots. Then I attached a cute flatback to finish the look. I am pleased that this is the first matching set that I actually believe look alike!!! With that said- I repeat an earlier posts about hating hot glue when it comes to lining clips. The good thing is that I was able to cover the lumpy part with the flatback.

Wild Flowers

I called this design Wild Flowers because I'm not really sure how I feel wild about the bow for today. I like the style and feel that it looks good but the ribbon pattern... I am not too wild about. The ribbon is 1 1/2" wide and the bow span is 2 1'2". The flowers are red and black in different sizes. The center is solid black 3/8" ribbon. I attached the bow to an alligator clip.

7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #7

7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #7
I am retiring my swirl ribbon for a while. The last bow of our 7 Days of Love is my attempt at the twisted bow. This is really a tough one for me to maneuver but if at first you don't succeed... give it a rest!!! No, I'm kidding , I will try again. The bow includes a knot center made with sold red 3/8" grosgrain ribbon.

It's been a week of love!!!
Thanks for letting me share.

7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #6

7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #6

This is my second time making the pinwheel style bows and I have to say that it is quite easy and i like it!!! With practice I could make about 10 of these in one hour Or at least that is my goal. I created the three bows in solid red with a red knot center, solid pink with a pink center knot, and solid pink with a white knot center. I didn't line my clips but they are attached to double prongs alligator clips. Visit my first Pinwheels-keep-on-turning!

Day 46

7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #4
I can't believe all the great ribbon that was included in a grab bag that i purchased. I love this swirl ribbon in white with red swirls. To add a bit of variety, I use flat solid red center and a solid white knot center. Both bows are attached to double prong alligator clips!

7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #3

Day 45
7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection continues...
I created matching bow tie bows using a Pink satin with red hearts ribbon. I am really proud of today's creation because its the first pair that actual look the same. I must be getting better. I am enjoying this project. It really is the highlight of my day. On the other hand it has made me aware how much of a craft this really is. There is a lot of talent and creativity involved.

7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #2

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY... or S.A.D. (Singles Awareness Day)
A friend on Facebook got me hip to the S.A.D. ... it's kind of sad but funny at the same time. Who thinks of these things? Hope everyone is having a love filled today. Well its day 2 of my 7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection. I revisited the Give a Little Heart style bows and added a a new style (pictured on the left). I lined my alligator clips with solid grosgrain ribbon in red and white. The hearts are all made using 6" on ribbon.
RANDOM THOUGHTS!
It's so odd that my munchkin doesn't like to keep bows in her hair for long.
I bought cupcake pattern curtains for my kitchen and NO ONE likes them.

7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #1

Day 44

This week is inspired by... VALENTINE'S DAY!!! Using the MaryJanes and Galoshes: Glitter Bow Headband Tutorial, I created a similar version of the bows without the headbands and glitter. Day 1 of 7 Days of Love~ V-Day Collection #1 is a mix of solid pink, solid red, solid white,  pink & red swirls, and white & red swirls. I added a little variety by cutting the edges in straight, angle, and dove tails.

Bow Mix #1= solid pink/ pink & red swirls flat center/ straight tail
Bow Mix #2= solid pink/ solid pink flat center/dove tail
Bow Mix #3= white with red swirls/solid white knot center/ angle tails
Bow Mix #4= pink with red swirls/ solid red flat center/ dove tail

SN: all bows are connected to double prong alligator clips

Sweetheart

Day 43
I am in the process of starting the bow order for the Kindergarten class I mentioned earlier this week. But I can't decide which ribbon I would like to use. My only limitations were pink, red, and white as bow colors... but solid or pattern? My Sweetheart bow is made using a red with white damask 7'8" ribbon. I attached it to a white lined double prong alligator clip. This bow would also look adorable on a white kufi hat. What to do? What to do? I'll let you know tomorrow when I finish the order!!

Chelsea

My Breastfriend!

Day 41

No that's not a typo... I meant to type
My BREASTfriend!
That was the nickname I gave my daughter when she was born and now I pass that name on to my craft project of the day. I created the bow using some 7/8" Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon that I purchased. The center knot is made with solid pink grosgrain and i attached it to a white lined double alligator clip.

Lil Red!

I am really excited to have my THIRD bow order! I have the privilege to dress up 21 lovely lil ladies for the Valentine's Day kindergarten presentation. I am trying to decide what type of bow to create for them. The only requirement is that the bows are done with red, pink, or white ribbon. So today I created a Lil Red  bow, using solid red 7/8" ribbon with a red knot center. I attached the bow to a french clip but have decided for my order I am going to use alligator clips. They will be easier for the teachers to out in each girls hair no matter the hair type.

I am also SUPER excited about participating in my first craft fair. I am going to sell some bows but only a few.

In-BOW-plete

Day 39
I can't believe that this beautiful bow is in-BOW-plete! I created a gorgeous stacked bow using a solid brown ribbon for the smaller bow and a green with brown polka dots for the bottom layer. I attached the bow to a brown lined alligator clip. The bow span is 3".

What's missing? Why isn't it complete? I feel like it needs a cute resin right in the center. Once I find one, you'll be able to see the finished product.

Ruffle My Ribbon Pt. 2

So I love creating flower bows... For this Ruffle My Ribbon clip, I used some teal Ric Rac that I had balled up on the counter. Of course after the bow was completed I watched the tutorial again that gave me the original idea, Zuliblu and mine looks nothing like the directions given. I guess thats ok but I wanted to create a bow similar to the tutorial... But it's not like I'm running out of time~ so I am sure that I will go back to it.

I lined a double prong alligator clip with white grosgrain ribbon. Then I cut out a circle from a piece of white felt to secure the flower after I sewed it together.I embellished the ric rac flower with a flower bling piece I bought at Michael's.

The top picture was with DH's IPOD. It's the new touch that takes photo and videos. I think the quality is better than my camera. With the right lighting this may be the beginning of a beautiful relationship!

Hello Kitty

Day 37
(It was NOT fun trying to get a picture of my bow today with this camera. SN: NEED A NEW CAMERA!!!)

My Hello Kitty bow was made using 5/8" themed polyester ribbon. I attached it to a barrette and used 1/8" hot pink for the knot center. If all goes the munchkin will wear it to daycare with her Hello Kitty shirt. I am sad to say although her mommy is making hair bows, she is excited when she first sees it... then 20 minutes later I am picking it up off the floor or taking it out of her doll's hair.

The glare is from the flash and the polyester satin like ribbon.

Flower Child

"If at first you don't succeed, try, try, and try again." I am diligently working on this twisted bow. It's been a month since I started my bow making endeavor and I am learning a lot more than just how to make hair accessories. It is so important to not give up. If it's not working take a break from it but DON'T give up. I just reminded myself of the Yo Gabba Gabba... "don't stop.. don't give up" song.
Well enough inspiration, let's get to the bow!

I created a twisted bow using 7/8" ribbon. My Flower Child is modeling the bow that I attached with a solid pink 3/8" grosgrain ribbon to a pink headband.
She's still wearing it as I type so I take it that she likes it!

Bow bye,

My Rain-BOW

I am super excited to finally do something with the multi-colored ribbon that I have had for over a year.So I present to you My Rain-BOW. I created a knot center using the same satin ribbon. The ribbon is 1" wide and the bow spans 3". The bow is attached to a blue alligator clip so that it can be worn with a headband or a cap as pictured below.

Ruffle my Ribbon

I love It's {always} All About Ribbon. I followed the extremely easy directions and here is my version of her Zany Zebra ribbon flower... Ruffle my Ribbon. I used Red with light pink swirls 7/8" inch ribbon. I attached the ribbon flower to a piece of felt and attached my lined alligator clip. The alligator clips allows the flower to be worn on a headband, as a hair bow or as a corsage. For the center I used a plastic stone i purchased from Michaels'

Today I visited Buy Buy Baby and was amazed at their bow prices. Just reminds me why I wanted to learn how to make bows.
