Lil Lady in Red

Lil Lady in Red... choose to wear a combination or single hair accessory. The flower clips comes in two options... the red fabric flower or the red daisy. Each is attached to an alligator clip (the fabric flower is attached to a double and the daisy is attached to a single). What I love about hair flowers is they can be attached to the headband or worn alone. I am not one for mixing red unless it is with a pattern but I chose a red 1.5" crochet headband.

If you look closely in the daisy you can see my reflection. LOL!!

Sunshine Sunday

Sunshine Sunday! I thought I would create a sweet sunny hair accessory for today. It's a yellow felt flower attached to a yellow band. I am not sure of the elastic size. This something that i think works for girls, teens and adults. I don't have anything in particular that I can wear but who knows its spring time and I just may wear this on myself!!!

Shoes To The Rescue Part 2

As an educator who has been directly affected by budget cuts~ I am so thankful for this principals dedication to teachers, staff, support personnel and most importantly to CHILDREN!!!!

I'm so SPIKED

I'm so SPIKED about this bow!!! It's my first spiked bow. I tried to attach it to a pony o but that just wasn't working for me today, so I attached it to a single prong clip. It's an ice cream theme ribbon with matching pink and teal solids. I have to say I am really pleased with this bow.
Hoping the munchkin will let it stay in her hair!

To twist or not to twist...

To twist or not to twist... oh me... oh my... I will master that darn twisted boutique bow if its the last thing i do on this 365 day journey of learning to create bows and accessories. I bought this jazzy little template and low and behold my bows do not look like the video... or the pictures. But I like it still! And most importantly, I will try again.

Materials
7/8" Pink Damask ribbon (free sample i received)
3/8" white for knot center
Lined double prong alligator clip

Well, you teal me?

It took me such a long time to think of what i wanted to call this bow... I love the 1" teal grosgrain ribbon used for the bottom layer.... I'm not one for mixing and matching but I decided to use a black & white print zebra ribbon for the top layer. Is it me or could it be a butterfly? And to top it off, i adorned the center with a vibrant teal colored stone. So what is the name of today's bow you ask...
Well, you teal me?

No really, that's the name of the bow. Have a great day~

Yo Gabba Gabba

Day 82

WOW! I can't believe its been 82 days since i started this project. Sometimes I look at the bows I've made and can't believe that I made something so nice and others I can't believe that I made something soooo.... Well I am not always impressed with myself but today is not one of those days. Yo Gabba Gabba is a weekly program in my house. The munchkin is a dedicated "friend to the show." I mentioned before that she does not like to wear bows in her hair for long. But when she sees this one, I am sure she will allow it to stay in her hair for more than an hour.

Materials
  • 3/8" solid ribbon with white stitch down the center (bought from Target for $1 for 3yds)
  • Yo Gabba Gabba flat back button
  • Single prong alligator clip

Pink Pin

I was given a great tutorial on Pinwheel bows after i completed my bow for today. So expect to see one again in the next few days after I give it a try. I can definitely see an improvement with this style bow. I like it a lot better than some I've made. My Pink Pin is made with 1" solid pink grosgrain. The center although very light is 3/8" pink ribbon with a center white seam. It was a part of a $1 roll of ribbon from Target that I thought was cute.

Zebra in all colors

Ok so if its not polka dots then my next favorite ribbon has got to be Zebra in all colors. This bow spans 3" is was made with 1" green and black striped ribbon. The center is made with black 3/8" solid grosgrain. My critical eye won't let me not point out that I need to work on my bow edges. but i do have a wonderful tool for that- which I have not used and now everyone is raving about them in my bow groups... which means i simply must use them since they are just laying around.

Dora. Dora

Well, Spring Break has come to an end and it's back to work tomorrow. I am trying to make sure that I try different types of ribbons and bows so i can figure out what my niche is. There are so many wonderful groups where women share their bow making ideas, struggles and triumphs. Although I am not quite ready to share my bows with them... here it is for you...

A Minnie bow is actual not minnie at all but MINNIE MOUSE!! I received a package in the mail that made me super excited. I was started to get bored with plain bow centers and so I ordered some and with some really fast shipping.... Ta dah!!!!!! My Minnie bow is a layered bow. I really am going to get better with my bow style names. In the meantime... the bottom bow is made with 1 1/2" black grosgrain ribbon. The top bow is 7/8" red grosgrain. The center is the lovely Minnie Mouse. The bow spans is 4".

Orange you Glad 2

The weekend is almost over but... Orange You Glad to still have one more day? Well in my case I've got a whole weekend!!! Yippee!!!! I can't remember which bow technique I was trying with this one but I am somewhat pleased with it. This hand folding is making me want to buy a template. So I lined the single prong alligator clip with a orange ribbon. The bow spans about 3" and the center is adorned with a white flower outlined in orange.

Side Note: I promise not to name the next bow I make with the orange polka dot ribbon "orange you glad." Orange you glad I said that? LOL! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I Felt Rounded!

So... I decided to try something different. I created a rounded flower out of felt and added some bling to the center. Then I attached it to a silver headband. The picture doesn't do it justice. I actually really like this... I Felt Rounded!

Another birthday

I must get back to the fabric store to buy more of this fuchsia ribbon. I attached the bow to a lined single prong alligator clip. The center is from the button set that I used yesterday. Another birthday addition. Please be patient as I continue to take pictures on my camera. I am shopping around before i make my final purchase and i will definitely repost the pictures. The camera is not doing the bows justice.

Birthday Bow

The pinwheel bow is any easy bow style. However, although I am pleased with my bows, they don't look like the pinwheels I've seen and read about. I created my Birthday Bow using a beautiful purple 1" ribbon. The center is a cake from a a button pack I bought from the fabric store.

Unclear

I am UNCLEAR about a few things... why the camera phone refuses to cooperate with me... why I have a camera but it takes worse pictures than my cell phone... what type of bow this is... I'm just unclear!. I used a beige 7/8" ribbon to create this circular creation. I had a vision in my head. This didn't quite wok out the way I wanted but that is what this journey is all about. Expect a better picture once I get my new camera.

Black Princess

Just to piggy back off my last post. I will post another picture of this bow when I get a new camera. This was taken with my phone and let's just say this is the best it can do. On with today's creation... I used 7/8" Black with hot pink print Princess ribbon. The center is made with 1/4" korker in hot pink. I attached my Black Princess bow to a 1/4" headband.

March 4, 2011

Didn't name my bow... and the post is late! If nothing else is clear. I have to buy a camera of my own! So for the quality of today's photo. It just doesn't do the bow justice. Both the cameras I usually use were not available. Boo hoo!!! I created a layered bow. the bottom bow is solid blue 7/8" grosgrain. The top is 7/8" white ribbon with blue printed flowers. I folded the solid blue grosgrain in the center for the knot center.

I promise to post another picture of this bow with my new camera... when I get one.

Bow without a Name

Day 63
Ok... so i pride myself in coming up with snazzy names for each of my bows... i know I already have a Madame Butterfly but when i look at this bow, that's what I see. To avoid being redundant this is the Bow without a Name. The original plan was to make this a pinwheel bow... then i decided to add some spikes... then i couldn't get the edges cut properly... then i remembered this is a project that is under construction for the next 302 days... so it's OK if i am not pleased with each and every bow right now... its' OK if my plan doesn't go according to plan. It's about the journey. i have joined some wonderfully supportive groups and i am learning each and every day how to perfect this new love i have for crafting hair bows and accessories.

My Lucky Bow

I don't have many friends who really celebrate St. Patrick's Day but I thought I dabble in a little green in honor of the upcoming holiday. Of course, the munchkin won't be wearing my creation on St. Pat's Day because as I have mentioned before she doesn't like to wear a bow for too long. Today I sent her to school with two bows and when I arrived there were 4 parts. So this creation... My Lucky Bow goes to the bow holder so the munchkin can't take it apart!

A Cheetah Never Tells

Day 60
Which bow did I buy at the craft store?
Well...
a Cheetah Never Tells...
but I do!!!
The bow on the bottom is a part of a 4 piece set that I bought. The brown cheetah like ribbon is the bow that I created. I think my bows... well some of them are major store quality. It's moments like this that keep me learning this craft!
