It's getting korky in here!

I attempted the korker bow again. This time I am going to starch them so they hold their shape. Unlike before I made it a bit smaller which I think makes it cuter. Another tip I learned is that korkers should be full. The munchkin is going to wear it hopefully. She is becoming more opinionated these days about her clothing options. The yellow korker is on a partially lined double alligator clip. The orange korker is not quite finished yet. But I will attach it to a partially lined orange clip. This really is a fun bow to make. Well "it's getting korky in here!"

 Till tomorrow...

Wild Animals!

Well, it was Wild Animal Day at my day job! I had planned to wear my cheetah skirt and instead on a headband with ears, I decided to put together this pretty little piece.

Then I thought about wearing something a little smaller and made this one...

Next I decided to wear my zebra patterned shirt... and created this headband.. .

Then I decided to wear snake! So here are my
Wild Animals!

You'll fall in love....

Orange flower with bling
I am really loving the simplicity of headbands. It's such a sweet adornment for both girls and women. The only thing is... it leads me to wishing the munchkin had more hair to wear them everyday. You'll Fall in Love  was created with a beautiful orange rust colored silk flower, with rhinestones in the center that help to dress it up. The matching elastic is 1/4". I sized it for a toddler. But I'm thinking about making one my size for Thanksgiving. If I do I'll be sure to update this post with my pic!

"A Princess"

So the munchkin colored a turkey today at school and the teacher asked her what was she thankful for so she could write it on the paper next to her turkey... "A Princess," she replies! So "A Princess" it is.

As part of my bowtique and to satisfy my munchkins need for Disney. I got some of these lovely sculpture princess bows. Featured today are Ariel, Tiana, and Aurora. I attached the sculpture to partially lined single prong alligator clips.

It worked best to position the clip horizontally so all that you see in the princess.

Oh, and I am thankful for life, love and happiness! You'll be able to find the sculpture bows available for purchase, later this week on my site Star Time Parties

Bow Bandit is BAAAACCK!!!

I'm back bow beauties!
It's amazing how good it felt to make and piece together some beautiful bows. This morning I woke up super early... only to realize that I was up earlier than I thought due to the time change...I didn't realize until I started spreading things out on the floor, how much I had invested into this bow blog. To not restart my goal would be a waste of money. And according to Mister, aka "the husband". I can not do that! I have to give him a nickname- that seems to be a blogging rule of thumb to give all your personal family and friends nicknames. So from this day forward Mister is THE HUSBAND... and THE MUNCHKIN... is still the munchkin! And you... my wonderful following of 14... You are my BOW BEAUTIES! It's OK to not meet your goals but it's not OK to not try again. So as I would say in my acting class... take 2!
Maroon Mesh & Satin Flower on Glitter Headband
Headband fades from Maroon to a deep purple
To start things off on a smooth and consistent note, some of the pieces were purchased separately, matched and pieced together BY ME! I'm calling this piece... Bow Bandit. Seems appropriate because I am not referring to myself as the Bow Bandit. I am going to have to steal away time from family and work to accomplish this goal!

Welcome back BOW BEAUTY!

Obsessed...

So in my BRAVO Andy Cohen voice... "Here's what I'm obsessed with today." As you know this started out being a blog for my Drama students, then changed to party tips, and then manifested itself into my 365 Bow Blog. I did really well the first few months as I started this great new hobby to make hair bows. Then some personal tragedy happened and I stopped cold turkey. Over the last month, I have come up with quite few design ideas but really haven't had the motivation to complete the project.... that is until my favorite shop Bitsy Bands, created a new youTube channel...  Well get ready... get ready... my Bow Blog is back!!!! Stay tuned later today for my first bow blog entry since MARCH... I know I can't stand it... I got my mojo BACK!

Today I was searching for interesting quotes to add to the new website and I came across this great quote by Audrey Hepburn. There are different versions it seems, so I hope i have the correct one.

More Leopard

More LEOPARD... I don't usually make sets... (as a new bow maker, sometimes it's hard enough to make one... let alone one to match!) Anyhow, I made a set of two leopard clippies. What I like best is the leopard ribbon that the clippies are partially lined with. Once again this is a shot of the munchkin with the clippies in her hair. Once again... she's sleep!

Zipper Band

I couldn't get a good shot of this one in the munchkins hair. she kept moving. I love the zippered flowers. But unlike to one I posted like week, this zippered flower is attached to black elastic that has a shiny shimmering silver thread throughout. I just may wear this to work tomorrow. I'll retake the photos so you can get a better look at the elastic... it's too cute.

If it's got to be leopard...

Please excuse me with the pictures as I get used to my new NIKON!!!!! I got the Coolpix L120 as an anniversary gift and I just LOVE taking pictures with it. If it's got to be leopard... I love it in pink. This pink leopard flower is not made with felt. The flower is attached to a 1/4 inch hot pink elastic.

Pink Lady

First shot, I couldn't quite get the lighting right. So I put it on the munchkin while she was sleeping. The colors look different but the picture of the munchkin shows the actual color of the felt flower. My Pink Lady was such a great sport... in her sleep!!! The flower is attached to a pink lined single prong alligator clip.

A Rose is still a Rose...

A Rose is still a Rose... even when it's made of felt. I attached this cute red felt rose to a 1/4 red band. Took a picture of it on the munchkin to get a better idea what it looked like. I know what you're saying... "She kept the band on long enough to take picture?" No!!! I took it while she slept.

I'm a LADY...bug

"I'm a LADY...bug" In a rush this morning and found this entire roll of ladybug ribbon. It is  1 1/2" wide and the bow spans 2 1/2". The center is black grosgrain in a knot. When making bow with this ribbon again, I think I'll choose to use red. The bow is attached to a single prong alligator clip that is partially lined.

Lil Lady in Red

Lil Lady in Red... choose to wear a combination or single hair accessory. The flower clips comes in two options... the red fabric flower or the red daisy. Each is attached to an alligator clip (the fabric flower is attached to a double and the daisy is attached to a single). What I love about hair flowers is they can be attached to the headband or worn alone. I am not one for mixing red unless it is with a pattern but I chose a red 1.5" crochet headband.

If you look closely in the daisy you can see my reflection. LOL!!

Sunshine Sunday

Sunshine Sunday! I thought I would create a sweet sunny hair accessory for today. It's a yellow felt flower attached to a yellow band. I am not sure of the elastic size. This something that i think works for girls, teens and adults. I don't have anything in particular that I can wear but who knows its spring time and I just may wear this on myself!!!

Shoes To The Rescue Part 2

As an educator who has been directly affected by budget cuts~ I am so thankful for this principals dedication to teachers, staff, support personnel and most importantly to CHILDREN!!!!

I'm so SPIKED

I'm so SPIKED about this bow!!! It's my first spiked bow. I tried to attach it to a pony o but that just wasn't working for me today, so I attached it to a single prong clip. It's an ice cream theme ribbon with matching pink and teal solids. I have to say I am really pleased with this bow.
Hoping the munchkin will let it stay in her hair!

To twist or not to twist...

To twist or not to twist... oh me... oh my... I will master that darn twisted boutique bow if its the last thing i do on this 365 day journey of learning to create bows and accessories. I bought this jazzy little template and low and behold my bows do not look like the video... or the pictures. But I like it still! And most importantly, I will try again.

Materials
7/8" Pink Damask ribbon (free sample i received)
3/8" white for knot center
Lined double prong alligator clip

Well, you teal me?

It took me such a long time to think of what i wanted to call this bow... I love the 1" teal grosgrain ribbon used for the bottom layer.... I'm not one for mixing and matching but I decided to use a black & white print zebra ribbon for the top layer. Is it me or could it be a butterfly? And to top it off, i adorned the center with a vibrant teal colored stone. So what is the name of today's bow you ask...
Well, you teal me?

No really, that's the name of the bow. Have a great day~

Yo Gabba Gabba

Day 82

WOW! I can't believe its been 82 days since i started this project. Sometimes I look at the bows I've made and can't believe that I made something so nice and others I can't believe that I made something soooo.... Well I am not always impressed with myself but today is not one of those days. Yo Gabba Gabba is a weekly program in my house. The munchkin is a dedicated "friend to the show." I mentioned before that she does not like to wear bows in her hair for long. But when she sees this one, I am sure she will allow it to stay in her hair for more than an hour.

Materials
  • 3/8" solid ribbon with white stitch down the center (bought from Target for $1 for 3yds)
  • Yo Gabba Gabba flat back button
  • Single prong alligator clip

Pink Pin

I was given a great tutorial on Pinwheel bows after i completed my bow for today. So expect to see one again in the next few days after I give it a try. I can definitely see an improvement with this style bow. I like it a lot better than some I've made. My Pink Pin is made with 1" solid pink grosgrain. The center although very light is 3/8" pink ribbon with a center white seam. It was a part of a $1 roll of ribbon from Target that I thought was cute.

Zebra in all colors

Ok so if its not polka dots then my next favorite ribbon has got to be Zebra in all colors. This bow spans 3" is was made with 1" green and black striped ribbon. The center is made with black 3/8" solid grosgrain. My critical eye won't let me not point out that I need to work on my bow edges. but i do have a wonderful tool for that- which I have not used and now everyone is raving about them in my bow groups... which means i simply must use them since they are just laying around.

Dora. Dora

Well, Spring Break has come to an end and it's back to work tomorrow. I am trying to make sure that I try different types of ribbons and bows so i can figure out what my niche is. There are so many wonderful groups where women share their bow making ideas, struggles and triumphs. Although I am not quite ready to share my bows with them... here it is for you...

A Minnie bow

A Minnie bow is actual not minnie at all but MINNIE MOUSE!! I received a package in the mail that made me super excited. I was started to get bored with plain bow centers and so I ordered some and with some really fast shipping.... Ta dah!!!!!! My Minnie bow is a layered bow. I really am going to get better with my bow style names. In the meantime... the bottom bow is made with 1 1/2" black grosgrain ribbon. The top bow is 7/8" red grosgrain. The center is the lovely Minnie Mouse. The bow spans is 4".
